The lodge is located near Hot Springs, NC in the mountains of North Carolina, 45 minutes from Asheville. This intimate setting, nestled between the mountains and fast flowing stream, provides a variety of options for both inside and outside space. 

The inside space of the lodge features an impressive stone fireplace, antique wood floors from an old mill, vaulted ceilings with beautiful scissor trusses, spiral log staircase, and other touches that speak of its inviting mountain style. Step outside to the two stone patios that overlook the sights and sounds of the Big Laurel Creek below offering an intimate setting for your wedding ceremony.

When you get out into the rural parts of Western North Carolina, there is often limited cell phone coverage. While close to Bear River you should be able to use your cellphone if you have service from Verizon, Sprint, US Cellular or another carrier that has roaming agreements with US Cellular. You will not be able to use your cell phones if your service is provided by ATT or T-Mobile. Before your visit, make sure you have gotten a gate code from us. Also, if you need to review directions, please call as you're going through either Marshall, NC or Newport TN before you lose cell service.

Directions from Asheville: Take I26 West towards Johnson City and get off at exit 19. Take US 25/70 towards Hot Springs, about 19 miles until you reach the intersection of US 25/70 and NC 208. Go straight onto NC 208. Signs will say to Greeneville, TN. Follow NC 208 1 mile until you reach the main entrance, just before the bridge, of Bear River Lodge. Please do not turn into the Bear River Lodge construction entrance. Go up the gravel road that follows the Laurel Creek 'till you get to the gate. Enter through the gate with the code you have been given, go up a small hill, and you will see the Lodge in front of you. Please drop your guests off at the Lodge and follow the parking signs.

Directions from Knoxville: Take I 40 East towards Asheville and get off at exit 435 in Newport Tn. Go North about 1 mile until you hit US 25/70. There take US 25/70 towards Hot Springs. Stay on US 25/70 and go through Hot Springs, over the French Broad River and then go another five miles. When US 25/70 comes to a T intersection with NC 208, turn left onto NC 208. Signs will say to Greeneville, TN. Follow NC 208 1 mile until you reach the main entrance of Bear River Lodge, just before the bridge. Please do not turn into the Bear River Lodge construction entrance. Go up the gravel road that follows the Laurel Creek 'till you get to the gate. Enter through the gate with the code you have been given, go up a small hill, and you will see the Lodge in front of you. Please drop your guests off at the Lodge and follow the parking signs.

Directions from Atlanta GA: There are two common ways to get from Atlanta to The Lodge at Bear River. Using primarily Interstates, take I85 North out of Atlanta for ~190 miles to Spartanburg, SC. Take I26 West towards Asheville. In Asheville continue to take I26 West going towards Johnson City and get off at exit 19. Take US 25/70 towards Hot Springs, about 19 miles until you reach the intersection of US 25/70 and NC 208. Go straight onto NC 208. Signs will say to Greeneville, TN. The scenic route from Atlanta starts by taking I85 North until you can exit onto I985/US23 North. Take I985/US23 ~95 miles North crossing into North Carolina and continue on to Waynesville, NC. Just South of Waynesville, exit onto US74 North (Smokey Mountain Expressway) and follow that less than 10 miles until you can merge onto I40 going East towards Asheville. Take I40 East around 20 miles until you can take the exit for I26 West. Continue to take I26 West going towards Johnson City and get off at exit 19. Take US 25/70 towards Hot Springs, about 19 miles until you reach the intersection of US 25/70 and NC 208. Go straight onto NC 208. Signs will say to Greeneville, TN.
